Meet Kitty-
Why did you name your sock "Ethereal"?
There are layers of meaning here. The title refers to the image itself which is abstract and celestial. It also relates to a fantasy I have where I get to live a life surrounded by lush dreamy colors and warm feelings of harmony and passion; feelings that can feel elusive to me in my day-to-day life.
What was the inspiration behind the design?
I was inspired by one of my favorite painting styles where I intuitively explore orbs and spheres within abstract airy atmospheres layered with distinct and subtle shapes and marks. I enjoy creating colorful ethereal scenes that I’d like to experience and maybe will one day. Answering this question, I’m reminded of how art allows you to create or experience other worlds where you can escape and play. Yum!
What's your favorite thing about yourself?
I’m proud of the way I have overcome the cards that I was dealt, the hard knocks of life and the family I was born into. I’m also proud of the way I’m navigating the consequences of the choices I have made over the years. I may not bounce back with the quick resiliency of folks less sensitive to challenging events, but I’ve learned to rise up again and again when I find myself in a low place. I love the way I lean into hope and am mindful that everything is in divine order, whether I understand it all or not.
What’s your favorite holiday and why?
Over the years, holidays have lost some of their luster. Maybe that’s due to unanswered or unrealistic expectations and values that were previously focused on stuff. Also, dear loved ones have traveled above and miles away so holidays can punctate their absence. Halloween though has become a day where I get to focus on the colorful, whimsical, creative, and lighthearted mood of the season. (No scary stuff for this gal).
Who would you want to give a hug to right now?
My daughter. Sometimes the heartache of not sharing life with her brings me to my knees. Then I remember that life is still beautiful and I get up and live out loud and in full color.
