Meet Keva Richardson-
Why did you name your sock "Sunrise and Little Clouds''?
It’s a reminder that tomorrow is a new day, with new possibilities. This sounds like a cliché’, but it’s often true, the morning brings a new perspective. Sometimes we can get overwhelmed or saddened by the heaviness that life throws at you. If you can just stay in the moment and manage past the rough period, hopefully those trying experiences are only little clouds that you
can see your way through.
What was the inspiration behind the design?
The inspiration for this design and for some of my current work came as a result of the pandemic and our most recent years of civil unrest. I found myself inspired by nature and the things that connect us all, the sky and clouds. Sometimes just by simply looking up and focusing on the beauty of nature which we all share, it lifted my spirits when the world felt dark. So, I attempted to capture that through my creative process.
I experience little joys every day, watching my dogs lay in the sun with their ears flapping in the wind, baby dragonflies hovering over the flowers, mama birds feeding their babies, nature always amazes me. I also get joy when I’m in my studio where my creativity flows. And I’m forever grateful to all the live music we get to see and hear in Austin – that brings me huge joy.
Her tremendous passion and the way she goes all out for the people she cares about, whether its her family, friends, or numerous former students and athletes. She is so many people’s “first call’, and that says a lot about the kind of person she is. If she’s in the room, you kind of know everything is going to be okay. Oh, and her laugh!
Who would you want to give a hug to right now?
My incredible mom whom we lost two years ago. She gave me endless encouragement, support, and love. My three sisters and I were probably a little more tough on her than we should have been towards the end of her illness, because selfishly we wanted her around longer -- it was out of love. Upon reflection I have such a better understanding of the aging process and the patience and unconditional love we need to give aging parents. I wish I could hug her one more time and tell her about everything I’ve learned and experienced – hopefully she knows.
