Why did you name your sock 'Cattail Connections'?
I chose “Cattail Connection” because the cats’ tails connect together and unify the scene.
What was the inspiration behind the design?
I am an astute observer of the great varieties of nature. The animals, especially; with their endless personalities and expressions, are fascinating to me.
What/who brings you joy?
I can say most of the people, things, or elaborate places which come into my life bring me joy; as I learn and adapt with them. People and places come and go, but leave me with inspiration and memories. I am grateful to have these in the creation of my artworks.
Describe your perfect day.
I will try my best to describe my perfect day; waking up in the tent all cozy in a bed bag. The smell in the air around the time when rain falls on dry, stony ground. The lively campfire with its smoke flying off to nowhere, and being served by my partner for breakfast as we sit down to have a cup of “joe” together. After the slow morning, I’d go for a short walk along the highlands and take photos to bring home to remember and be inspired by. The air from early morning had that kind of warmth that depends on the sun to keep it feeling warm. I like to be dragged into unknown places which benefits me as an artist to become a co-explorer to see what the universe has created in our paths.
What’s your favorite thing about yourself?
As a Deaf artist, I am in a rare position to interpret the visual world, free of many distractions. I take that responsibility very seriously, to try to bring a fresh and unique perspective to all my viewers. Sometimes I consider my world, without noise, to be a special gift, a privilege to see and one I dearly want to share. Perhaps that is one of my favorite motivations.
